Security Council Affairs Division
The Department of Political Affairs provides substantive and secretariat support to the United Nations Security Council, helping the Council to carry out its responsibilities under the U.N. Charter for maintaining international peace and security.
DPA’s Security Council Affairs Division:
- Advises Council members, other Member States and staff of the Secretariat regarding procedural and substantive matters;
- Prepares the procedural briefs of the President of the Council;
- Drafts key documents including the Security Council’s Annual Report to the General Assembly;
- Processes letters and reports of the Secretary-General and other documentation as Security Council documents;
- Maintains the website of the Security Council
