It's a dilemma that's far too common: a child forced to labour in hazardous conditions – but, if the work is taken away, the child's whole family will plunge into even deeper poverty. This is how hundreds of thousands of children in Burkina Faso have become virtual slaves, forced to do backbreaking work.

Every night in the Romanian capital of Bucharest, tens of thousands risk their lives by stepping out onto the streets -- into a world of drug abuse, prostitution and HIV and AIDS. In the midst of these dangers, there are some caring souls trying to help, as you will see as we take you on a night-time journey through Bucharest's underworld.

Believing that things can change for the better. That's the key to recovery for many individuals -- and societies -- after living through hard times. This is the story of an artist who is helping people imagine how they can transform a history of violence.
