In the midst of rapid global change, Mongolia is undergoing dramatic transformation. Its youth are growing up in a very different world than their parents. Children, especially from poor families, are being left alone, and getting into trouble with the law.

More and more people around the world are unwittingly buying fake medicines. Some are weak versions of legitimate drugs, but others are completely fake – with deadly results. Sales from these drugs are estimated at billions of dollars. We take our cameras to Peru, where the authorities are battling to contain the tide.

The United Nations Development Programme, UNDP, is working with the Government of Mexico to help villagers in the Yucatan Peninsula in eastern Mexico prepare for natural disasters, especially hurricanes. Since most men in the area leave home to work in the United States, women in several villages are being trained in prevention methods in case of a devastating storm.

POLICY GUIDELINES
APPLICABLE TO BROADCASTERS OF UN IN ACTION.

1. UNIA is free of charge to authorized broadcasters who agree to give credit to the United Nations each time report is televised.

2. A Letter of Agreement with specific terms and conditions will be forwarded upon negotiation with the Manager of the Multimedia Resources Unit.

3. Reports cannot be edited or sold.

4. Feedback on the programmes would be appreciated for promotional purposes.

In addition to adhering to the above policy guidelines, please provide us with a profile of your channel and audience on your organization's letterhead.

In rural India, women have been discriminated against for generations. Now, thousands of poor, illiterate women are part of a new social revolution. Pakeeramma, a low-caste woman who had nothing 10 years ago, is now a successful entrepreneur, and a symbol of a new India.

Haiti, one of the poorest western nations, still suffers from a disease eradicated in most of the world. Now, the World Health Organization has launched a nationwide campaign that aims at wiping out the disease by immunizing the majority of the population in one year.
