20. Everyone has the right to freedom of peaceful assembly and association. No one may be compelled to belong to an association. PLAIN LANGUAGE VERSION: You have the right to organize peaceful meetings or to take part in meetings in a peaceful way. It is wrong to force someone to belong to a group. Illustrated version NOTES: If you and members of your school, workplace, or community feel the need to change your situation or the situation of others, you have the right to get together to talk about it and to work together as a group to find a solution, and to approach those in charge as members of a group. DEFINITIONS: solidarity is a union of interests or purposes or sympathies among members of a group. MORE: The International Labour Organisation (ILO) has adopted several conventions on the particular right to association for workers which have been ratified by a great number of countries. |
