WATER - EAU - MAR  WATER

Istanbul & The Bosphorus

The Bosphorus is presently under the threat of pollution and sea-traffic. As the youth of Lycée Saint Benoit, we believe that enviromental problems have no national borders and therefore are not local but belong to all humanity.

We participated in the project of YRE to carry out activities together with the youth of other nations. We also analyzed the sea-water and interviewed fishermen, local officials and scientists. We shared our knowledge with other young people through the internet and put together an article consisting of such information.

Finally, we saw that the sea was losing its ecological balance. Our aim was to attract public attention to this problem and, by consolidating public opinion, to get the officials to act.

By organizing panels we wish to establish a unit of sea-scouts in our school.
