Good afternoon,
With the courtrooms very busy this week let me turn to the schedule immediately.
As you know, the further initial appearance in the case of Radovan Karadzić will be held Friday, 29 August at 14:15 in courtroom I. All media will have access to the Tribunal’s lobby upon registering with Tribunal’s staff at the entrance. However, a special accreditation will be required for the courtroom’s public gallery where seating is limited. Work space will be provided in the lobby with WiFi access, electricity outlets and the hearing will be broadcast live in these areas. More information on the facilities and media accreditation may be found on the homepage of the Tribunal website.
As regards the rest of this week, the courtrooms remain active with trials resuming after the summer recess.
Closing arguments in the case of Milutinović and others will end this afternoon whereupon the trial chamber will retire for deliberations. The trial of senior Serbian officials held responsible for crimes committed over Kosovo’s non-Serb population in the late ninetees began on 10 July 2006 with 112 witnesses appearing for the Prosecution and 120 for the defence.
The trials of Prlić and others, Lukić and Lukić, Popović and others and Gotovina and others will continue this week and next.
The hearings in the case of Vojislav Seselj have been adjourned until further notice. The trial is expected to resume after the Appeals Chamber rules on the Prosecution’s appeal for the proceedings to be stayed until the Trial Chamber itself has ruled on its Motion challenging the accused's self-representation.
Allow me to highlight two other hearings scheduled for next week.
The contempt trial of Ljubisa Petković will commence on Wednesday, 3 September at 14:15 in courtroom II. Petković is charged with contempt of the Tribunal for failing to answer the Chamber’s confidential subpoena to appear as a Court witness in the trial of Vojislav Seselj.
On Tuesday, 2 September a status conference will be held in the case of Momcilo Perisić at 14:15 in courtroom II. The former Chief of Staff of Yugoslav Army is charged with war crimes committed in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia between 1993 and 1995. The accused has been ordered to return from provisional release and into the Detention Unit by 18 September ahead of the scheduled start of trial.

Olga Kavran, Spokesperson for the Office of the Prosecutor, made no statement.
Questions:
Asked whether the OTP filed a new indictment for Karadžić, Kavran answered that it has not. Jelačić added that the operative indictment remains the same and if nothing changes, he will be asked to enter a plea to charges in this indictment.
