Good afternoon,
Let me begin by highlighting the two contempt of court trials scheduled to take place this and next week.
The trial of Ljubisa Petković, charged with contempt for failing to answer the Chamber’s confidential subpoena to appear as a Court witness in the trial of Vojislav Šešelj, will be held this afternoon at 14:15 in courtroom II.
And the trial of Astrit Haraqija and Bajrush Morina is scheduled to take place Monday through Friday next week in courtroom I. Haraqija, a former minister for Culture, Youth and Sport of Kosovo, and Morina, a former political advisor to the Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport and part-time editor of the Bota Sot newspaper are charged with contempt of court committed during the trial of Ramush Haradinaj and others.
The trials of Lukić and Lukić, Prlić and others, Gotovina and others and Popović and others will continue this week and next.
Office of the Prosecutor:
Olga Kavran, Spokesperson for the Office of the Prosecutor, made the following statement:
Prosecutor Brammertz will be in Belgrade next Wednesday and Thursday, on 10 and 11 September. This will be his second official visit to Serbia in his capacity as Prosecutor of the Tribunal. While in Belgrade, the Prosecutor will meet with Serbian officials in charge of cooperation with the ICTY – Prosecutor Vukčević and the Action Team, Minister Ljajić and his colleagues from the Office for Cooperation with the ICTY as well as a number of government representatives.
The purpose of the working meetings is to discuss current issues in relation to cooperation, such as access to documents and archives, access to and protection of witnesses as well as the search for the remaining two fugitives – Ratko Mladić and Goran Hadžić.
