MALU provides liaison services to TV, photo or print journalists who require assistance with
their information gathering, filming or photo shooting activities.
1. ALL JOURNALISTS: Obtain a media pass (please refer to the instructions under 'Accreditation Requirements'.
2. TV CREWS AND PHOTOGRAPHERS: Check in with the Media Liaison Office, room S-250, on the second floor of the Secretariat building for assistance with any filming or photo shooting activities. Visiting TV reporters: Please remember to send an e-mail ahead of time with your filming schedule so that we can assure your access to all the shooting locations. Your e-mail should be addressed to the Chief, Mr. Gary Fowlie, at malu@un.org.
3. PRINT JOURNALISTS: Check in with the Office of the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General (OSSG), room S-378, on the third floor of the Secretariat building for assistance regarding interview requests and information gathering about the Secretary-General, the Security Council or any other UN activity.
4. ALL JOURNALISTS: Please refer to the ‘Media Access Guidelines’ for the policy on media access for all journalists at UN Headquarters.
5. ALL JOURNALISTS: For medical emergencies, journalists should call 212 963-5555 (3-5555 internal) for assistance. For all other emergencies, please call 212 963-6666 (3-6666 internal).
The UN Headquarters are composed of three buildings: The General Assembly Building (where the visitors entrance is located), the Secretariat Building (the tall tower), and the Conference Building (the flat building connecting the Secretariat building and the General Assembly building where the Security Council is located). The second floor of the Conference Building and the Delegates’ Dining Room are intended primarily for the activities of Member States’ delegations. Special safety and security restrictions apply in these areas, and any filming or photographing needs to be approved by MALU.
